I looked, but can’t find a listing of this under hotkeys.
If I create a mask, is there a quick way to delete any mesh that is unmasked?

No, there isn’t (ZBrush 4R2 Shortcuts). Besides, it’s a 2 step process (Tool > Visibility > HidePT + Tool > Geometry > DelHidden).
You could record a macro of those 2 steps, then assign a hotkey to the Macro button or move the button to a convenient spot.
Yeah that was the only way I could see to do it, but I figured there might be some smple way to do it like the del key, or shift del or something.
I like the macro idea though. I haven’t done any unique ones for myself yet, so this might be a good learning experience!
I consider that a six step process…
Gareee, assigning hotkeys is pretty simple. If i were you, i’d assign one for ‘HidePT’ and one for ‘DelHidden’. THEN it would be a two step process.
I have HidePT set to ‘ctrl + H’ and you could set DelHidden to whatever you want.
just ctrl+alt+click on DelHidden, then, the next key(s) you hit will be stored as hotkeys. not sure if Backspace would work but you could try. (do the same thing with HidePT)
then it’s just - ctrl+H, Backspace
i think you’d be better off isolating the two actions.
good luck

Thanks for the advise… I was actually just going to look into setting it up in a little while.
And this is easier than recording a macro and pressing 1 key?
Hmmm… I’m thinking I want a new button for this instead of a hotkey. Since I’m working with a wacom, that would be more intuative then using a hotkey, I think.
I think what I’m going to try to make is a button that inverts the the current mask, hides it and then deletes whats hidden. So in theory, I can just paint a quick mask, and then tap that buton to delete what I just selected with the mask.
So now I need to read up on that. Wish me luck!
sounds like a great idea.
it’s all a matter of workflow preference - buttons, hotkeys, magic wand. if you’re s(*& looks good and you’re having fun, play on, player.
It worked out to be much easier than I anticipated, thanks to the assistance here. Now I just paint a mask, and hit the new delete macro button, and Bam!, its gone!
BTW, can those macro buttons be renamed?
Also, it looks like they have an associated psd file… can they display as that psd icon instead of the default text version? It looks like they are psd files… maybe they can even made over in photoshop? (A big red X would make sense for this one)
(Of course, working with dynameshes, they restore and close objects anyway, but for lopping of parts while I’m working its killer.)
The only thing I can’t get to stick is the point amount. I deleted that when customizing my UI, and even if I put it back, and save the preferences, its still gone when I start another session.
Polycount would be more useful than points, so I know when its time to head over to decimation master.
For the first time in a LONG time, I fell like I’m most the master than zbrush is. (Of course, I’m sure it’ll make me its bitch again quite soon… LOL!)
.
???
Just go into ZStartup/Macros/Misc folder and rename the files. Text on buttons will change next time you start ZBrush.
Did you “Store Config” or “Save UI”?
I’m pretty sure I did both.
After you disable “Enable Customize”, you click “Store Config”
I could never restore those points count displays, so I ended up redoing the ui from scratch. It was good practice, cementing in the learning.
