Is it Possible to merge Fibermesh subtools into one?

I’m trying to merge two fibermesh subtools into one subtool. If I merge them (MergeDown, or MergeVisible) they cease to be fibermesh & become normal geometry. They also become thinner, very ‘whispy’ and don’t render well at all.

Is there some setting I don’t know about, or is merging fibermesh layers not a possibility at the moment?

Each FiberMesh has special settings that apply to that entire FiberMesh SubTool. Merging FiberMeshes therefore requires that they be polymesh objects rather than being able to keep the FiberMesh properties.
