Is it possible to load a curve into the panel loop profile graph, from another app.

Hi I am wondering if I can create a profile curve for a panel loop edge profile in another application such as other cad programs, and then use the load curve option button located below the panel loop graph to import my curve? I see this option is looking for a .zcv file ( is that a zbrush specific file?)

Instead of working with the small graph box on the ZB. UI.

I am just looking for a way to draw out some panel loop profiles that I think would be easier for me to create in some other apps I use, where I could work larger, and use some geometry guides and also be able to create a curve that is symmetrical across the Y axis and not have to position the points on the graph exactly in the same position on the left and right of the graph freehand to get symmetry.

Unfortunately not. It would be useful if you could! The ZSC file is a ZBrush file and there’s no way to import any other curve file.

thanks for that info Marcus,

Do you know if there is any way when using the graph to make the right and left side symmetrical automatically

No, there’s no way that I know of using symmetry on the curve.

But there are a couple of things that may help you:

  1. If you set the Preferences>Interface>Ui>Button Size slider to its highest value, then restart ZBrush, the Curve will be as large as it will go, making adjustment easier. You can reset the button size when you’ve done (though you’ll need to restart ZBrush again).

  2. You could also use the See-through slider at the top of the interface to make the ZBrush UI transparent. You could then use an image of a curve drawn in another program, placed behind ZBrush, as a guide.

HTH,
