Is it possible to change back to 4R3's way of doing mesh insert extractions?

Hi Everyone!
Hya ZBer!!!

Is it possible to revert how a negative dynamesh insert looks when its being drawn to how it was in 4R3?
In 4R4 I can’t see what I’m doing while I’m drawing and even with double turned on in display properties its still not working. Is there a thing some place in Preferences? And if not is there any plan to fix this in the future?

Thanks you guys!

Cheers!
Mealea

Hi Mealea!

It’s not exactly as the old way, but pretty close to it, and as far as I can see, probably your only alternative. Also, use 'Double" in ‘Display Properties’.
Try it and see if you think it’s better.

If you want, here a couple of buttons you can place conveniently wherever you want to switch Front opacity easily. One is “Front Opacity 1” and the other is “Front Opacity 0.5” (default) . Just extract the contents of the .zip to ‘ZStartup > Macros > Misc’ and the buttons will be in your Macro palette.

Thanks ZBer
That helps a lot.
Do you have any idea why its like this now?

Thanks again ZBer!

No problem Mealea! Personally, I didn’t think much of it either when it first started being like that and I don’t really see the benefit of it. Why they did it, I guess only Pixologic can answer that one.

I personally like the new mode. I find it easier to determine whether or not I’m creating a negative volume vs in previous versions where it could wind up being positive even when I thought I was holding down alt, or vice versa. This way you get immediate feedback, and still have the option of seeing the backfaces (although if your double property isn’t doing the trick, that could be another issue?)
