Is GoZ supposed to export a completely new mesh to 3DS MAX everytime?

So as far as I can tell whatever changes you make in 3DS MAX will apply to the ZBrush mesh once you click on GoZBrush. But if I make more changes back in ZBrush and then click on GoZ (with MAX still open), instead of updating the current mesh in MAX it simply re-exports the whole ZBrush mesh as an entirely new object over the current one in MAX. I’ve noticed that I cannot even select object sometimes. Am I doing something wrong?
