Hello ZBrusher and Iron Men :wink: ,

I want to share with you my Iron Man Helmet model: you can manipulate it and play with it (obviously not sell or print it for selling), but please, if you publish images of it, remember to specify my name and that you have found it on this great forum.
You can download it from the link below: it is a small .zip file and its password is matm

A world with honest sharing is a better world! :slight_smile:

Have a good time,

Mattia Mercante

wow!
thank you for your gratefulness and i hope its gone be taken the right way!
probably the biggest high quality model share ive ever seen hereon zbc!
way to go!:+1: :+1:
i guess were gona see a lot of iron man models in the time to come which
have a much better head than rest of body :laughing: :laughing:
the print looks great only thing that bugs me is that the pole of the layers is on his nose.
is there a reason for that or did it just happen?

This is awesome! I’ve been looking for this for months. How can I remove the head and neck from the model to make it easier to unfold in pepakura? I’ve tried alot of things but nothing I have will allow me to break it apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a Iron Man collector and this is one of those MUST HAVE’S.

Hello,

@ stagefivedrift13: If I understood right, you have in your hands my model, shared into IM theme, right?
If you want delete the neck and the head inside the helmet, you can use a 3d software like 3d studio max (import the obj, sub-tool element, select the neck and the head, delete they). If you can’t, I can send to you my helmet mesh, without others things.
I’ve tried with p.m. to you, but your account don’t have this function activated. Please, contac me at mail, using the link in my ZBrush account.

Greetings, Mattia

Mattia, Thanks man. I got a free trial of 3ds max and it came apart with no problem. This thing is extremely detailed. It’s going to take me a while to unfold it in pepakura. I’ll have to get a faster computer as well. The only way I could be happier right now is if you modeled the rest of the armor.:eek: :smiley: I could help fund that project as well. Thanks alot, you’ve made an Iron Man fan very happy.

Keep up the excellent work!!!!

merci pour ton partage mais tu poura le coupez en plusieur parti ex parti1 menton 2 visiere ect thanks mais je nai pas 3dsmax en fin jai utiliser la demo donc je ne plus rien faire merci For me conprendre http://www.reverso.net/text_translation.asp?lang=FR

Hi,

this is the link (TurboSquid.com service) for the Iron Man Helmet .obj file (only the helmet, without neck, texts and face inside).

http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/424900

You must create an account for downloading… but don’t worry: is completely FREE :wink: … and others of my works simply searching, in the TurboSquid Home Page, the “hal4u” keyword.

Have a fun with it, and if you create some original new versions of it and/or modification, please share your results here.

Best regards,
Mattia

Awesome! If you do decide to do the rest of the armor, let me know. I just got the DAVID scanner and I’m going to try to it out.

Hi,

Now I’m busy, but soon as possible new scans about Iron Man Body/Armour will come :wink: .

Best,
Mattia

Excellent!!! I’m going to start working on it as soon as I get the scanner working, but I’m more than sure yours will blow mine out of the water.:smiley:

Hi,

This is really an amazing model, i’m pretty jealous!

I just started trying to create models out of 3D scans and I was really interested with the workflow you used: 3Dscan - Rapidform - ZBrush - 3DS.

I was wondering if you could give me some more details on what you are doing exactly in Rapidform. You said optimizing the model, did you just merge the different scans or you really cleaned the whole model in Rapidform and did only the retopology in ZBrush. Do you absolutely need Rapidform or you could do everything in ZBrush.

By the way, I’m an advanced user of Rapidform so don’t be afraid to give me details!

Thank you very much!

Really interesting thread!

Hello,

@ Lt CoolDan: Thank you. The model of Iron Man was started time ago with a 3D Laser Scanner software at v.1.6. Now the software is at 2.1 version and it have the new and important tool “Global Fine Registration”. In the past I used RapidForm only for this purpose, for the final global registration between all the scans at the same time.
But now, with the new version of the scan software, RapidForm, for me, is not so necessary. I use it only for mesh optimization (I’m not a good user of RapidForm ;)).

Now my workflow is:

  • David Laser Scanner 2.1: 3D scans;
  • MeshLab 1.1.1: first optimization of each scans;
  • David Laser Scanner 2.1: alignment and fusion of all the scans, for a 360° scan;
  • RapidForm 2006:final mesh optimization with Fill Holes tool and Decimate/High Quality tool for polygons reduction;
  • ZBrush 3.1: re-drawing work with Topology tool.

Now I’m working on a racing bike scale model, and after I planning to scan and make the full body of Iron Man action figure, started in this thread.

Mattia

Just an update:
you can see the low poly mesh, re-drawed with ZBrush, here: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1329&p=8328#p8328

Bye, Mattia

Hi,
Hal8999, your answer is synchron with my actual test.

I’m trying the new option, using videoprojector instead Laser strait line.
But I have some difficult with.

have you tested this method?

My second question, is
I saw your workflow between David and Zbrush,
is necessery to use your process?
we can not use the David’s obj in Zbrush and topologise it directly?

Best regards,

Hello Mattia you have new works or scans ? Thanks Bro ! :smiley:

Nice work! is it possible to break down/ remodel the armour into its component pieces so it could be manufactured and wearable? would it be easier to take apart a model and scan individually each part or can adjustments be made to each section easier by scanning then and then reworking them with 3D modelling? Just looking for the cheapest easiest solution. Regards!
