IRC Monday Night Challenge - Ocean Creatures *EXTENDED* (05-17-04 to 05-31-04)

MTB WOW!!!
THAT must be the most amazing zb work I’ve seen…that render in the centre is amazing…I’m in love with it…I’m speachless…you made my day!!!

Kircho

Yes MTB that is trully awsome I like non alien models and that is one hell of a starfish. :+1:

Didn’t have time for a lot, so I made “Gerald, the really really ugly sea creature.”

I hope someone… um, likes him!

Thank you for your comments everyone.
I forgot to mention this last night. Here is a six arm star fish-

Here is the Sunflower Starfish which can have up to 24 arms -

You have to love the diversity of echinoderms.
I too tried to make a five armed starfish but was having mesh problems as well. I decide to skip it and make another type of echinoderm just because they are so beautifully detailed…and I happened upon the six arm fella above. :+1: :+1:

Here is my sea creature…a sand dollar.

Cheers!

Very refreshing thread and awesome entries
everyone! Simply breathtaking!
:+1:

Awesome work! Star fishy abounds! Sand dollars, and whales. I think Ned has the award for most Zsphere’s used so far! Way to go Ned!

I’m surprised no one has done a shark yet. Hehehehehehehehehe… that’s my next project! No one can take it! Well, actually I guess you can… so do whatever you want!

Wicked awesome sand dollar Steevo. Is that a ZBrush native object??
And some wonderful whales from jotajota too. I love the water effect. If you can share that with us?

Thanks for the wonderful comments, but I have so much to learn! Zbrush is the absolute best! Everyone has done outstanding work and wonderful images!! hope to get there myself one day.

Well now, I know I can’t keep up to the big boys, but I can contribute something.
Here is my work in progress, I have to go away till Sunday evening, so I will finish it up then and get it posted before Monday.
In the meantime here is my SnakeFish, still needs some tweeking and teeth etc. plus an environment of course.

oops I just noticed my cursor is in the screenshot…

:b2: :b2: :b2:

OK here he is simple but all Z.

Hey guys,

I’m still kinda new to this and I haven’t heard of IRC yet, what does it stand for :o ? The Challenge is great, thumbs up :+1: :+1: for you guys, and all the participants and their cool images.

I was kinda playing around with some features of Z2, and this is actually my first reposable model in ZBrush. I had one problem with it though: when my model reached the 8th level of subdivision, there didn’t seem to be a way to subdivide it further without making an adaptive skin or a unified skin.
I can only repose the object as long as it’s a ZSphere model with a preview skin on, maybe I’m missing something.
But the Monday Night Challenge is all about learning and expanding your Z-horizons, right? So could anyone give me some tips on Zsphere modeling?

This was an abstract testmodel in which I saw the potential to become an ocean creature. Guess there’s a little bit of an ocean creature in all of us, right  ? :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
Hope you like this one, I’ll try to find some time before the 24th to make a more complicated and realistic ocean creature.

Jotajota: Muy buen trabajo con esa ballena azul. En que parte de sudamerica vives?

Reactor: Make your image a litle bit brighter. No matter how ugly Gerald is we still want to see him.

Steevo: I didn’t even know this criter existed. Nice work

Northstar: I like your sluggy thing, snake fish.

U-jin: How many polygons are you up to. I did a humanoid figure at level 7 and I was at 2 million polys. Do you really need more than that? Can your computer handle them? The most mine can do is 4 million.

Really nice to see the MNC again
As I dont have a lot of time atm , here’s a quicky , nothing complicated.

Dolphins:

ola …
excelente propuesta MTB… :+1: todo reto genera aprendizaje, esta es la mejor forma
un saludo a todos, sus esfuerzos son valiosos :+1: :+1: :+1:

Usted es agradable.

¿Cómo usted hace la luz del agua en la ballena?

Great pictures everyone :+1: Inspiring stuff. Hope to join in the fun before monday.

Your spanish is awsome Mahlikus :+1: and yes I wonder that too.

Mahlikus The Black?
Your starfish is great! Can I ask how you textured it? It’s great the way all the cracks and crevases are darkened, how did you do it? This reminds me of an ambient occlusion render, or radiosty.

I like the whale just before the star fish as well, alll the whales are great. i was going ot do a sea horse, but I was beat to it. Turtls are great, but I think I have another idea to explore.

Excited to get home to my tablet.
