ZBrushCentral

IRC Community?

Hey, I have only been using zbrush for a small amount of time. But I still can not find any good zbrush IRC communitys. I am on 3 networks on 3 zbrush channels but they only have about 10 people in them. Is there a larger community around? if not wouldn’t it be good for ZBrushCentral to setup there own official channel?

yea, it would be nice to have a centeralized ZBC IRC…

I hope everyone can get together and just put one in one place, and keep it there…

#zbrushies used to be quite active on freenode, seems to have died down after the release of z2.

#zbrush3 on sorcery.net is active on monday nights (hope I got the address right) some really nice people there! I met some very elite Zbrush people there like Mentat7, Ron Harris, and MTB.

there is also an “Official” monday night challence on freenode also(#zbrushMNC?)… this is also active on monday nights. great place to learn, and vote on the new challenges, nice guy named MTB runs this sometimes, Even if you are not interested in MNC but want to meet some real nice people try this channel. I use things I learned from MTB every day!

There is another solution!

If you want, you can use a FREE program called X-CHAT… with X-CHAT you can monitor all of the Zbrush channels at the same time…

MIRC, and a few other IRC clients do the same thing but are not free. (but they are nicer and have more features!) I am sure there are other free IRC clients out there also.

One feature I would love to see on ZBC is a java based chat client that logs into a public Zbrush chatroom for people who are currently browsing ZBC.

have so the IRC people see who is browsing ZBC and can send personel Chat requests… also people who are on ZBC can see who is chatting and can pop in for a conversation or send a quick PM :D…
and Have a BOT for a moderator, kicks people who are abusive, or are useing too much profanity, or for flooding, or spamming the same thing over and over…
With a fair warnings of cource, “HEY {$username} you used the word {$party-foul}, I am the boss here, and if you do it again you will be banned for the day… do it for 3 days and you will be banned for life.”

Could even have a voteing system that the bot initiates…

“Excuse me everybody, I am the all mighty Z-BOT, I run things here and have noticed that {$username}, has used the word, {$possibly dis-tasteful}, if you folks find this unexceptable, please type the word “/Bannish” to vote to have {$username} removed from this productive conversation for the day. the users {$list active users from last 15 minuets} are eligible to vote. a 80% vote or higher will activate The Social Eject system for {$username}”

Would be nice if there was a voteing system for words to add to the Contraban Dictionary.

user can type something like"/Blush Offending word or Phrase"
This would wake up Z-bot and it would say some thing like:
" Ladies and gentlemen, the word {$Contraban} has been brought up for a vote, If you find this word or term distasteful, or unexceptable type the word “/Mute” now, and it will be added to the contraban Dictionary. Users {$active users from last 15 minuets } are eligble to vote.

This would also help add to the dictionary for when people are trying to be creative and cheat the system by typeing punctuation, or alt charictors… Please excuse this example…
substatute ass for @$$ or a$$, or @ss… some times people try to defeate cencor systems useing this method… the community could have a quick vote, the word added to the dictionary, and a Pixologic employee would not have to be bothered with the incident
.

The reason I say use a BOT for a moderator, is to make so that a Pixologic Employee or a Comunity volenteer moderator never look like the BAD GUY… or the Big bully… or the cencorship commision… Everybody blames the bot! everyone gets upset at the bot not a person… and what makes the bot powerful is the comunity… PLus the bot is watching every word, of every conversation, 24 hours a day.

The bot dosent just have to be the Justice system either… it could be monitoring conversations and actively praticipate… have it looking for key words and key phrases, and pop in with a quick.
“Hi , I noticed you are talking about {$knownsubject}, just wanted to say you might want to check out {$Quicklink refrence} back in the forum. it mentions things about {$known subject}. If you dont want me to give you help, at anytime just type in /Shut-up-bot to re-enable me just type /Yo-bot”

after the /shut up bot , command could have the bot say something commical at random, like “Hmmmph!”,or “I was just trying to help!”, “No one understands us bots”,or “I cant take it anymore, Good bye crewl world”,or “Free speach for Bots SNIFF”…

OR for FAQ

“Hey {$New user}, that is a commonly asked question, we at ZBC have a very complete FAQ section in the forum check out this link {$faq link}.While you are there brows around a bit, this is a great place for new users to find information.”

anyways… Just an idea :D:+1: would probably cost a small fortune to set something like that up…

It would be nice if we could get something going on a popular network like EFNet or Undernet. I would be willing to hang out there as much as I can in the beginning to help it grow.

It could grow much faster also if the channel received official support by getting a link from the pixologic page or from zbrush central as an unofficial IRC channel for ZBrush.

well, quakenet has massive #3dsmax and #photoshop rooms, these litrally have over 300 people in them. Maybe we could start a channel on quakenet? its a very very big network. Its mostly filled with gamers though, but saying that most graphic artists tend to play games anyway.

I could setup a channel and bot if you like? I have been using IRC for over 6 years :stuck_out_tongue:

hmmm, I was just talking on the zbrush channel on quakenet. The people there seem to think its a good idea to bring everyone together.

Its only an idea, but why don’t the moderators of ZBrushCentral talk to the moderators in #zbrush on quakenet and sort out an offical channels, Channel flags can be given very easily.

If ZbrushCentral where to make it official I am sure there would be a lot of people put together.
