Ipad.......

Hi Guys, this is my first thread, and not sure its in the right place, but here goes. I’m a taxi driver by trade, so spend alot of time in the car, for obvious reasons.
Am working on a couple of projects at the mo, but dont get the time I need to work on them, at home.
Apart from the obvious choice of getting myself a serious laptop computer to carry on with the work in my quiet times.
Is it possible that maybe someone at pixologic might just be working on a IPAD app, even if it does not do everything in one package, split it up into several groups, or even just the basics ???.
This would be brilliant as I have a Ipad 2 with me all the time, so I could carry on working on my projects.
Obviously it wouldnt be the full blown version, but being able to do the basics in Zspheres, sculpting, and maybe painting as well as seperate modules.
Has anyone thought about this ???.
There are 3D apps etc on the Ipad, but nothing like this program.
Billy

I’m not sure how successful ZBrush would run on an iPad. There’s no pressure sensitivity and I can’t begin to imagine how one would tackle the Pixologic keyboard voodoo to do things like masking, hiding/revealing, remeshing etc.

However, you could always get an 11.6” MacBook Air with a small Wacom Bamboo. ZBrush runs extremely well on such a setup. The MBA’s are absolutely stunning machines. Best ultralight laptop by far.

well not only the lack of keyboard and pressure sense be an issue… but the most importantly… Ipad dose not have enough processing power or even enough ram to run Zbrush properly. Now, I do seem to remember Other 3D modeling software that allows for vertex modeling on a Tablet, But I cant remember what it was. I think it may have been a light version of Blender. Wether or not it works on an ipad or is Mac OS caompatible is my guess. I do remember seeing it some kind of pad though.

sorry to dissapoint ya Billy. :frowning:

sculptris would be nice on my ipad :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks for the comments guys, but it was just a query, I know a laptop w/tablet would be the better solution, but there’s the problem of space in the drivers seat and of course passengers jumping in the car at any time too.
It wouldnt have to b e a full blown version, could be split into modules with the basics, and dont forget that ZBrush is quite usable without a graphics tablet, it just makes things alot easier and quicker.
There are clay model Apps, and some quite good drawing and painting Apps on the Ipad, but nothing like ZBrush.
Now if Apple could incorporate pressure into the screen, or even into the pen ??? WOW
Putting in more processing power and memory will be easy, the way everything is shrinking and the portability of the Ipad beats any Laptop hands down.
We can all dream eh…

Check out Autodesks 123D Sculpt app for the Ipad 2. At least its some kind of sculpting that can sharpen you skills, even if it isn’t Zbrush. The problem I find is even with using an Ipad stylus pen I find the tip obscures the view in an unsatisfying manner. Still if I’m out and about and have some time to play around with it, its fun.
