Hello. I’m new to both ZBrush and the forum, and have just picked up an Intuos4. I can adjust the brush size just fine with the touch ring, but cannot zoom or rotate the canvas. I can, however, zoom in both Sculptris and Photoshop, so it’s definitely a ZBrush compatibility issue.
Can someone possibly help me out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I’m still new to ZBrush as well and have a Intuos4… as I understand it, the functionality to do that hasn’t been programmed into to ZBrush. Like you, the only thing the Touch Wheel works with for me is the brush size. Personally, I would really like to see that and the ability to assign hotkeys to incremental adjustments for things like the ZIntensity, Focal Size, RGBIntensity, etc. If they were hotkey-able, the touch ring could be used for them.
I know that’s not the answer you would like to have, but it’s something to put in a request for. If there is enough interest, I’m sure they’ll look into adding it.
Other than that, how is your learning ZBrush coming along?
Very odd. That just doesn’t seem, well, all that… intuitive. For a program in which pretty much everything seems to have been thought out (and for which probably 80% of users likely use a Wacom product to operate it), I can’t imagine why something so basic as zooming with the touch ring would have been omitted.
All else is going great, thank you for asking. I’m working my way through Eric Keller and Scott Spencer’s books at present, and just trying to get my bearings. Most intimidating from my vantage point, but I’m determined to learn as much as possible!
I have a visible groove in my Wacom tablet where I use the “Scale” button to zoom, not long from now it will not just be visible it will be a trench that screws with the use of other programs.
Implementing the same thing for mouse wheels seems to make sense to me as well…
I am at a loss…"does anyone know how to set-up an Intuos 4 to do a simple brush size adjustment from using the touch ring? I got this working at one time and now that I have installed the latest update I need to redo this and am not getting the job done. I would think that because a number of pro-users claim that you can’t really use ZBrush without one why don’t Pixologic post a video on how to set it up? Or provide something of how others work with one. Grrrrrr! Anyone have any ideas?
I’m not sure about this but I do not think it works. It looks like its sort of trying, like it seems to twitch but then does nothing.
It looks like all the ring thingy does is spit out [[[[ and ]]]] characters, so maybe if you figure out what if anything ZBrush is expecting for brush resizing you could go from there…
Apparently its not compatible at all and you need a script to make it work, I didn’t know this, I just assumed that something was broken.
