This has got to be the coolest thing in 3D graphics software I’ve seen for years. Cutting through the technical barriers and allowing almost complete intuitive artistic control over form and stucture. Far out Pixologic How long till Autodesk makes you an offer?
arrggg why are they making us waaait… it is torturous … lol
This looks absolutely incredible. You guys are amazing.
now i’m shocked
you guys aways find a way to make our life easy as hell
this “muscle fiber” adaptation or kinda of is awesome, will save tons of time of pro artists and allow more friendly modelling for newbies.
we love zb
While I know some Users made excellent use of them, ZSpheres always seemed more like a novelty to me in lieu of creating a base from other 3D apps - ‘THIS’ however.
As another poster noted; ‘this’ is as close to ‘virtually’ applying clay to an armature as you can get … well, until the next update.
Great work, Pixologic.

I’m actually holding on to start working on a new model because I want to do it with ZSphere2. So please release it quick!
Man this is absolutely cool.
I’ m quite a newbie to ZBrush and this is an absolute amazing tool. Just great!
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!
Release the new ZBrush… I need the new ZSphere2: I’m sure the new (voxel!!!) system will give us a more traditional scultping sensation but still in the funny (and clean) digital universe!
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!! August is ending…
giggity, giggi- ohh, I just pooped a little
Damn you right!!! i cant wait to try out ZBrush 3.5 , cmon!! it’s almost the end of the month!! aaaaa!!!jkhalkjs hahaha
So I watched the video 1 more time and I’m marveling and how clean the ZSPhere rig for the hands are. I know the current excepted method of making the trident hand is functional but this is so much more superior. Following the bone structure instead of having to “rig” something, I love it. I actually started using a method like this but it entails exporting the resulting box mesh and repairing all of the overlapping polygons and reconstructing the hand. Much more labor intensive, I’m so excited.
Will you be able to import a mesh from other applications and then pose it using ZSpheres? Let’s say I create a low poly figure in another application, can I import it into ZBrush and then pose it using ZSpheres II?
I am also wondering if I can pose some of my completed models using ZSpheres II or does the mesh have to be created using ZSpheres first?
I am waiting for the day high poly count becomes obsolete. Z2 is an indication of infinite possibilities.
This is fantastic! Can’t wait to play around with it.
So, Zspheres can create a rough armature and then also behave like addign flexible clay?! If I interpreted what I was seeing, please correct me. This is pretty exciting!!!
 OMFG!!!
Thats the sweetest friggin thing, I’ve ever been kin to see.
-D-
good question! It is possible even now in 3.1 to bind a mesh to a zsphere rig, actually, even if its not as reliable as it should be. But maybe Pixologic fixed this with Z spheres II
can’t be much left to do, If they think of a way to make hard surface modeling and rendering as ridiculously easy as they’ve made organic modeling there will be no other 3D software except ZBrush clones.
The big fear is that if they keep coming up with such incredible leaps they will be bought by Autodesk or Adobe and then it all turns to crap. It’s the corporate culture at Pixo that has made all these innovations possible, and that has to stop the minute a corporation - which by definition has only the interests of the shareholders in mind - steps in.
It’s almost like were getting it too good with Pixo. Imagine how many times we would’ve had to pay since ZBrush 2 to Z4 if Adobe owned it? I pray that another way is found, like maybe some of the brilliant innovations like lazy mouse and Zspheres are licensed out to the big boys. They certainly aren’t going to let things continue as they are going, Pixo are making them look greedy, foolish and totally unimaginative.
Vive Pixo!!!
I don’t fear of Pixologic being bought by some other company, mainly because it plays so well it’s cards and plays nicely with other apps, GoZ being another example of it.
Because ZBrush will be so easy to integrate into existing pipelines and will deliver such amazing possibilities and results, many studios will invest in ZBrush and Pixologic will have constant influx of money, which in turn will not only prevent them from financial trouble and risk of being bought, but also allow for further development of this amazing application.
I own ZBrush from version 2.0, bought it 4-5 years ago. I love the way Pixologic manages to astonish me with every release. Furthermore I see acceleration in development of ZBrush. It took twice as long to get from 2.0 to 3.0, than from 3.0 to 4.0. Another proof, that future looks bright for Pixologic and us, their userbase.
BTW: GoZ FOR LIGHTWAVE!!!
I don’t think there should be panic because Pixologic is advancing at this rate. What is inmportant is that they are showing the big dogs not to forget the artists that these tools are made for.
