*** Introducing Spotlight and Lightbox

C’mon Pixo.

Texture painting out of 2d software is a precious piece of the cake and the competence is not sleeping, precisely.

Take a look here:

We trust you, but time to react!.

in all due fairness… the market they are aiming at is the high end Movie and TV market. Not that Zbrush can’t or isn’t being used there, but the price tag for said software is set at a very high end price. Many of us here are really not in that category.

Its cool and all, but Zbrush 4 will do all of these things. Even down to the animation as shown in the video. Or at least thats what i have been lead to believe about version 4.

I’m agree with you, Gridlost, but I neither expect animation in Z4, and I don’t think Zbrush need it. I was referring at “Texture painting” features, for that reason I’ve posted this in Spotlight thread.

Of course Zbrush is different at Mari, but the mask, the image retouching, the painting way, the performance, the layers… from Spotlight I really expect this, (well, we saw this in the Spotlight video, right?).

Respect the “animation”, I can understand textures can change with the movement, (like knuckles can vary its color when we close the fist from red meat to white-yellow), but for Z4 I mean we should take the ability to create the two textures, and then interpolate it with our 3d software package (Interpolating by zones in the final model!).

WHERE IS Z4? Shall we wait another year?

Zbrush 4? What’s that?

One of the reason why i had slowed down on 3d was that it was too technical and i was wasting too much time in technically staff instead of creating arts.
With Zbrush i back in game. Thank you Pixologic

AHHHHH!!!
So… close… almost…

I really hope that we do actually see this in z4… lately all the fuss has been about animation… but honestly, spotlight and lightbox should be the stars of Z4!

Dude its all… good ever last pixol of it …the potential Zbrush4 could awaken in the artist is unlimited POWER!!!

That was absolutely awesome!! I can’t wait!!! crumbaker I’m with you… I REALLY hope that you can texture just like that video because I will be in heaven if it’s true… I use Deep Paint 3D but they don’t upgrade it anymore
and it’s ok but the idea of being able to texture it like the video is
simply beyond awesome!

ok

How about finding images on your own computer as well???

The concept is cool and of all the abilities simply being able to have a reference image pinned in your workspace is priceless!!!

So Spotlight can in fact search online for images within Zbrush?

No, Lightbox can. You use Spotlight with the images that you collect. In Lightbox it is easiest to expand your workspace find the Yahoo plug in and double click it. Lightbox then becomes an image browser with a dialog box that will find images relative to what you specify. Each image will have a small bar on top and will be of various widths. The wider the bigger the file size. Double clicking the images you want will preload them for you making the bar white. When you start Spotlight you can use those images or find more adding to your collection.

You have to apply a texture to your model before you can paint the images on it and you have to click on RGB in order to get results.

Shift Z and just Z for Spotlight. Use the comma “,” key for Lightbox.

Correct me if I miss something here…

Spotlight is absolutely splendiferous!

For Lightbox and the WWW search - How about an option for a site like Compfight that lets you filter by Creative Commons licensing? I think that Google image search allows filtering by Creative Commons as well.

CC is a great way to make sure you have full permission to use an image - and just an awesome idea in general.

I like Image search engines.

you don’t have to apply a texture to the model before you paint an image. In fact, as far as I know, and what the docs say, Spotlight is built around polypainting.

Is there a way to paste paths to certain directories within Lightbox?? I can’t seem to figure out how.

In windows go to your custom folder on whatever drive it lives, right click, make shortcut. Right click on the shortcut and choose cut. Go to your c drive and find the pixologic folder with the application, open it, go to ZProjects. When in the folder right click and choose paste. Next time you open ZB click on the projects heading if it is not already open, under the folders on the left you will see an icon for your custom folder. Double click and away you go.

Nice workaround Kanga! Thanks! However, is there really no way to natively copy/paste paths in Lightbox??? This seems like a pretty fundamental task for any type of browsing interface and am baffled why the ability to do so would be left out. Thanks again for the workaround. Hopefully Pixologic addresses this issue with the next release.
