intersecting geometry

Ok heres where i am.

I have a design sculpt, and i retopologized it, but where the mouth is i believe it slightly intersects. so when i project it i get spikes.

i plan to open the mouth a bit and project, then move the jaw back together again.

but i;m curious. will the intersecting geometry be a problem when i normal map and displacement map?

Well…yes, and no. It all depends really on what you’re projecting, how you’re projecting it and what the final cage looks like. I’m not talking projecting the actual mesh in Zbrush, more the projection of your normals/displacement.
