Installed Zbrush. How do I configure it for my system?

I just installed Zbrush 4R7 and I haven’t used it for over a year. I want to get back into it. How do I configure it for 24GB of DDR 3 RAM and an Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0 GHz? It is a goddly 8 core piece of hardware. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117404

My goal is to put out some work so I can get into Gnomon College. My system is extremely powerful and isn’t doing much right now. What are some tips to utlitize my system for some extreme modeling? I didn’t have a useful picture to add so I just included a picture of me in England.

I don’t think you need to set anything. Good luck with you 1000$ processor. It is interesting to see how little has been the progress in processor speed in 5 years, hardly a 50% in processors of the same price. Where is the Moore law? No wonder why the selling of new PCs are falling, before a 3 years old computer was unable to run smoothly new software.

From performance perspective I personally would disable the autosave and the save/load undos, but this has nothing to do with your processor, it simply creates problems in general.

How do I enable multhreading? It says to test for it but not how to enable it. Also isn’t there settings in ‘mem’ that need configured for my Ram usage? How much do I set it to? Also I’m using a 4k monitor. How do I set zbrush to not look so bad and low-res on it? And lastly, how do I save all my changes so I don’t need to set them everytime I restart zbrush?

I would not touch the defaults unless somebody else has a better advice. Multi-thread is on as auto.

For a 4000k you definitively need to half the resolution of the Zbrush display or it will kill your performance badly. Don’t use a canvas over 2000K wide, no matter how quick is your processor. This can be done with different systems. Graphic cards are ignored.
No idea what you mean it looks bad-low res. Check the canvas resolution in document palette.

Preferences are saved in preferences>config>store config
For extra settings to be saved use a plugin called startup master, but it won’t be needed if you are simply starting to learn.

Oh alright this is very helpful thank you.
