Inserting mesh refuses to work - have tried everything!

Can someone please take a look at this model and tell me what the heck Im doing wrong.

I’ve checked half a dozen tutorials, cloned both tools, have both of them with the same subdivision levels (2) and I still can’t insert the mesh. I’ve even checked the tool > preview window to see if the models are incorrectly aligned to each other.

And don’t say “remove subdiv 1” because Im never gonna do that. I’ll end up with a model that’s too poly-heavy to UV-wrap in roadkill :frowning:

EDIT: nvm - this seemed to be some bug. When I took both tools to subdiv 2 and did the mesh insertion it worked. But they don’t seem to be “welded” together properly. The border is all weird.

Mesh insertion does not weld anything. ZBrush does not currently have any Boolean features.

One thing you could do after mesh insertion would be to create new topology and then project the original onto the new.

Well maybe that’s a feature that will be implemented someday? (auto-new-topo when inserting meshes)

Anyway I skipped the mesh insertion and went with edge loops and deformatons instead. It wasn’t a big part anyway.

So now Im FINALLY at the stage where I can do what I really like about this software: sculpt!
