Insert mesh brush issues

Hi all,
I´m having issues following the digital tutor´s “HARD SURFACE MODELING” course, mainly with the insert mesh brushes.
For example, whenever I try to substract an insert mesh from the surface hitting alt while drawing, and the ctrl+click twice nothing happens.
Some of the subtools has dynamesh activated and seem to work sometimes but it also generates lots of artifacts on some other cutted holes.
Any help please?
By the way working with zbrush 4r7
Thanks in advance and sorry about my english!

We need to create a polygroup in the area we want to weld both objects. Press Alt and hold before to draw the insert mesh in this new polygroup. It will appear inverted.

In this example the edge of the mesh is outside and this will not weld correctly. In all cases using alt or not the insert mesh must be in a moderate distance to the main mesh. This distance will be used to create the new welding bridge geometry that will join both parts. If this distance is too short or too big the welding won’t work at all or will look bad.

You probably will need to move the mesh inside to allow a moderated inside distance to the edge. In that point the insert mesh will not be visible because you need to use transposer before the mask is cleared and the temporal transparency when drawing the insert mesh is gone.

For welding left click and drag twice with ctrl hold in an empty canvas section. A single click or without drag won’t do it.
