Importing Wavefront OBJ from Poser in ZBrush 4R6--Newbie here

Hi everyone!

I just acquired ZBrush 4R6 and am just now getting my feet wet in the program. A bit daunting, to be sure, but I am having fun nonetheless. My question has to do with my import of a Wavefront OBJ file from Poser and that is, when I draw out the model, it draws out only to a certain size which is too small for me to be able to see what I am doing with it. How can I draw it out to a size that is comfortable for me? Many thanks for your help with this niggling problem!

Twisted Pixels

You should not have to “draw it out” at all.

In ZBrush, first click on the PolyMesh 3d tool (in the tool palette). Draw this on the canvas, and enter “Edit” mode (the T key).

Now, in the Tool palette, click Import and find your .obj file.

Your object should be imported at the correct size in the middle of the workspace.

If you do it the first way, and the model is not the right size, you can also click the Tool > Deformation > Unify (x, y, and z) button (make sure you’re in edit mode). This should resize the model to fit properly in the workspace.

Hope this helps.

All you need to do is:

  1. Draw out the object. It doesn’t batter what size it is.
  2. Press ‘T’ on the keyboard to enter Edit mode.
  3. Press ‘F’ to frame the object. This will make it a good size to sculpt.
