Importing high-res OBJ causes Memory Error ?

Hey guys,
I’m trying to import an OBJ file into ZBrush that is extremely high-res (Level 7) and when I do I get a Memory Error saying “Sorry, this action could not be completed successfuly due to insufficient amount of system memory (RAM).”
I tried rising the Compact Mem to 4096 (clicked Compact now) and I tried rising my system virtual memory too with no luck…

I have Windows 7 64 bit with 8 gig of RAM.
I’m able to import the file into Mudbox with no problems and then rebuilt the subdisivion levels there.

Does anyone know how to make this happen?
Thanks a lot !!

level 7 doesn’t help any as that is a relative number.
how many points?
did you export out polypaint data on the model?
where is the obj file coming from?
does it have UVs?
can you upload the file for testing from others?
Did you combine multiple subtools before exporting?

Side Note…
I’ve imported files with around 24million points into Z no problem…they take a while, but they make it in.

Hi, thanks for replying !
I have no polypaint data
The OBJ file is coming from Mudbox and is a regular OBJ made of 3 different parts
Yeah, it has UVs
I have no idea where to upload such a huge file :
No combined subtools.
The objects contain a little more than 17 million polygons all together and I’m trying to get it into zBrush for polypainting and decimation master in order to print it later on.

Thanks !
