Hi,
First off, I know this has been asked lots of times and I have read all postings I could find regarding the topic, but the problem remains:
I have a ZTool with 6 levels and would like to export the lowest one as obj, edit it’s UVs in Maya and reimport it into ZBrush. I am familiar with the workflow, I know about the Maya/Zbrush import settings and have successfully used the pipeline multiple times.
For some reason this doesn’t work for the ZTool I am working on at the moment. It is a clean quad-only model, has no holes and was initially created with the 3Dplane primitive in ZBrush.
I’ve been trying everything I could think of for the last two days (including rebuilding the model from scratch) but every time I reimport the obj ZBrush either crashes or messes up the model. One thing that strikes me as very weird is that when I import the obj out of ZBrush and without opening it in any other package bring it back into ZBrush into a completely new scene, the normals are flipped. But when I press the flp button in the export settings nothing changes, I get the exact same result.
Among other things I’ve tried to:
-Increase the virtual memory
-change ZBrush’s import/export options in the preferences menu
-Deformation - unify the object
-give it GUVs before I export it
-export it as dxf and reimport as obj
-export as obj and immediately without opening it in any other package reimport it into Zbrush (even this doesn’t work which makes me think it’s upon export when things go wrong)
-imported the Uvd obj into a new ZBrush scene and exported it as obj
none of the above worked ):
I am all out of wit and don’t know what to do next so I was wondering if any of you lovely people could take a look at the model? Is there a place I can send the model to, it’s too large for an attachment. Attached one of the errors and an image of the model…
I would be extremely grateful for any help as it’s a total show stopper at work…
Thanks a lot,
Julia
