Importing Displacement Map PSD's is Busted!

Hey all,

So I’m stumped, and need some help. I’m working on a project where I’m sculpting all of my tiling textures in ZBrush.

Currently I’m trying to utilize some elements of my sculpt by creating a displacement map, editing it in PS, bringing it back in, and applying it to a subdivided plane.

My process for creating my displacement map currently is to take a grab doc, export the 16bit Grey Scale PSD, edit it in PhotoShop, and then import it back into the alpha panel. That’s where I get stuck!

No matter what I try my edited PSD will not impot properly. Any help with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! (:

What have you tried ?

Is it an older version of zbrush by any chance? You might have to go under Preferences: Preformance and up the Preload File Size

There’s not a whole lot to expand on there, other than when I try importing it back into ZBrush it does one of a number of funky things. Some of which are it loads in straight up black, or it shows up in the small icon form but won’t load, or it crashes out right.

It’s not a very complicated process, it’s not the sort of thing I would be expecting to have issues with…

Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into that. I have the most current version of ZBrush at work, and have a wicked rig to run it on, so that should be solid. I’m worried it’s just a funkatronic version of ZB…

Any further tips would be great.
