When I export out of Zbrush it looks nothing like what the tool does in Zbrush as far as color goes. It appears from research that my materials are not exporting. When I import, I have found a way to get them in now finally. I am new to this. I tried Mat Cap baker last night but it disappeared and said I needed to install 4.8. I am using trial of 4.7. Is that the only way to do this? I would be happy to embed the materials in somehow and not have a material map if possible.
What are you exporting to? If you’re trying to get a matcap into another program, you will likely have to find a litsphere/matcap/mip_graball based material for that renderer (and if you’re using polypaint as well then you may need a custom shader to blend your texture with this litsphere/matcap image).
If the renderer supports litspheres/matcaps then all you need to do is create a square document in zbrush, frame a sphere to fit these bounds, apply whatever matcap you want to the sphere, and export the document as an image. Then you can use that image for the litsphere.
You can bake a matcap to a texture map in zbrush, but this does not create the same effect on the model since it will no longer update as you change views. If you can’t find a plugin for an older version of zbrush, you could still use Projection Master + Zapplink to bake a material for you (example).
Thank you. I am with it now. A new problem, I have little white dots dragging all over my screen. I cannot stay in 3d mode.
Can you upload a screenshot of this problem?
