Importing 2 mesh objects, and Freezing 1 ?

Hello, and thanks for your time.

I’m alittle new to Zbrush. I was wondering if there was a way to import two OBJ meshes into one scene, but then de-activating one of them (or Freezing it), so that the other second mesh can be worked and sculpted?

Both OBJ mesh objects are in a specific orientation in space and cannot be moved around in world space.

any ideas?

thanks again, D_P

If I understand properly, you should just be able to export your objects as seperate obj files, and then import them into zbrush seperately. They will hold their position according to where they were when they were exported originaly  hope that helps.

I am not totally positive on what you mean. but if you use the append tool to attach the meshes to each other. When you turn one mesh the other will turn with it, essentially putting them in the same world space. tool>subtool>append, then pick your mesh. Hope it helps.

thanks for the reply,

Yes, I can import the OBJs into Zbrush separately (using the Import features) into one document, but once they are imported into Zbrush in one document, I would like to “freeze” Object 1, and then be able to sculp Object 2 without affecting Object 1.

Object 1 and Object 2 are have overlapping mesh over each other so it is easy to maniuplate both objects with the tools, but I don’t want to manipulate or sculpt both objects…just one…

Is this possible…I can’t find a freeze, or disactivate option for a mesh…

thanks! P_D

you should be able to sculpt by whatever tool you have selected. under the Subtool drop down at the bottom youll see “append” after importing both obj’s as seperate tools you can select one of them, bring it onto your pallete then use the append button and select your other tool. That will put both objects in the same pallete but as seperate subtools so you can choose which you would like to sculpt just by switching which subtool your using. Hope that helps

if not i can try to take print screens to explain a little better since im not so good at it

this is perfect! I am able to sculpt a object whilst having another object “inactive”.

thanks for your help.
