Import/Export scale and position change

Hi,

Over the last couple of months we have noticed changes in our work flow that appear to be a result of the Zbrush export function, our normal use of Zbrush can mean we import and export between various 3D packages multiple times which has never caused us any problems in the past. More recently when remeshing and applying UV’s the world coordinates change quite dramatically, equally the scale can be a totally random figure. Other examples are when we’ve imported files that are physically large (in meters) Zbrush resets the values to its own scale factor which can be detrimental to the work flow. Some of what we are seeing is similar to the unify function in the deformation tab, however we wouldn’t expect the scale or position to change within our suggested work flow.

These problems have only really be noticed as we’ve upgraded to 4R8 and i wondered if anyone else was having these problems or if there is set parameters that we are unaware of that may cause the problems i’ve mention.

Hope someone can help,

J

What is your workflow? I’ve got a lot of experience dealing with scaling and positioning issues between Zbrush and other programs.

Sorry for such a delay in replying.

We export from our scanning software, tidy in Zbrush and then bring the files back into the original software. As i was saying before the weird part about it is we’ve been doing this for a while now and its only since 4R8 that we’ve seen the scale factors change. It’s also hard to pinpoint at which stage this gets thrown out.
