IMM same size

Hey Guys there is any way to use insert mesh like a spray gun brush?
i must cover a surface with half spheres; all spheres must have the same size;
curve mode have limitation in my case…
There is anyway to use insert a mesh brush like “pick and place”?
THANKS

there might be better answers but the only thing i can suggest is insert one sphere, switch to move tool, then ctrl+shift to pull out a copy of the sphere and drag it where you want.

Thanks for your replay, but with this method the copy of insert mesh don’t follow the mesh surface…
i remember a thread about this , but i can’t find it…!!!

Maybe MicroMesh could be used. http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/geometry/#geometry

micro mesh is good idea, but in my case no,beacause the mesh in a stl import…
i want to use zbrush for mediacal use.the half sphere is a retantion beads used on the orthodontical protesis like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXWW1suEi0k

with micro mesh the topology must be remeshed

There’s no way to exactly reproduce the behaviour in the video. If you don’t use MicroMesh then I think you have basically two options:

  1. Using the Stroke>Curve function to repeat the mesh. You can adjust the spacing by adjusting the Stroke>Curve>CurveStep setting. The size is determined by brush size. The attached file is an IMM with two options (load the brush and press M to select which you want) - a single line of half spheres and three lines of half spheres.

Brush download

  1. Just use the standard insert mesh brush. If you hold Ctrl immediately after starting to draw then the size will automatically snap to the brush size.

Why can’t you just duplicate or clone the object and then make the half spheres on it to place over the original sphere? Your main tool with the MicroMeshed tool as another subtool? What is your desired output?

ctrl voilà the best way…
i search the simply and fast way to make this…
micromeshes, dynamesh; stroke curve, are more complicated solutions ( trust me) for some people!
Thans for half sphere brush is very usefull.
i have completely forget ctrl function!
