images sequence in Zbrush 4 (answered)

In the plugins : “Turntable plus” we had the option of exporting image sequence from the turntable.
We had the possibility of bringing out from Zbrush 3.5 the color and the alpha as *.TGA sequence from the turntable…

How can i bring from Zbrush4 an image sequence in *.tga like in Turntable+?
Am i missing something?
What is the use of the improvement of the rendering if I can only separate passes for a single frame?
what is the use of having a great tool like the timeline if I can bring only *.avi or *.mov with out alpha…

I know there is work around… but is a step back from turntable plus… or again am i missing something?

Please help?

I’m surprise that none of us have an answer?

I will take a look of your point…im still exploring other features from the gem!

Hola andreseloy, cuento con tu ayuda. Espero que consigas algo. Seria triste que no haya soluciones par eso.

P.S: te vas a reír pero… arriba CARDENALES na’guarra!

Image sequence export using the Timeline is not currently possible.

Ok… it’s not possible to use the timeline to produce sequence of images, but, is turntable + usable for zbrush4?
Or do you have an easy work around to have series of images from Zbrush 4?

Thank you for your answer

aja!!! te descubriste!!! Vivan los Gloriosos Leones del Caracas!!

well, you have the answer from Marcus so …just wait:D

To have an image sequence you’ll have to export your movie and then convert that to an image sequence with something like quicktime etc

You can try the 3.5 version of Turntable Plus - I’ve not tested it and can’t say if everything will work as you wish. If you get issues then simply remove it.

Sadly… I made my test and Turntable plus work, but you can not use the bpr button to render out the sequence (and this is the point of this thread…use the new AA from the BRP mode)…
That make it useless for bringing the anti-aliasing to the turntable world!

Maybe it could be scripted out, but the bpr is a clic button and not a switch one (it work when you click on it and do not change the state of something on/off…).
Now, I’m not an expert in Zscript (far far from that in fact). Marcus, could you tell us if it can be done or is not even worse to try?

Again, thank you.:+1:

I was asking the same question. let me know if there is an answer in the future.

OK, this is a beta version of Turntable Plus for ZBrush 4. This will export an image sequence for BPR renders.

For installation, follow the general instructions here:
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Plugin_Installation

Note that this is simply a first pass and there will no doubt be issues and some things may not work as expected. It does not work with the Timeline.

Instructions:
The plugin works in the same way as before except for some new switches for BPR.

  • Turn on the Turntable Plus>Best Preview Render switch to use BPR
  • You then need to set the little switches to export the different maps
  • After pressing the Render Movie button you’ll get the options dialog. Note that if you are using BPR then the HDGeometry, Image, Alpha & Depth options will be ignored - you need to set these options either through the Img, Dep & Msk switches in the Turntable Plus menu or in the case of HDGeometry, the option in the Render palette.
  • After the options dialog you’ll be asked to save the first file for each of the different image exports. Note that what Turntable Plus calls an ‘Alpha’ is the BPR ‘Mask’.
  • For other BPR Render options, set the options in the Render palette.

Updated December 20 2010 - version 02 corrects an issue with BPR when Spin Cycles is 0. When installing, make sure you delete the previous version.

Let me know if you have any comments.

What can I say : very big thanks!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
The plug is great and does exactly the job.
I have been using Zbrush for a decade… and now you make me regret not to script!
It’s great to have someone like you around! Are you planing to give some Zscript classes some day… if yes I’m in!

P.S: You probably notice, but the shadows are the one which are turning. Again it is something that is inerrant to the render in Zbrush : the lights are the one which are turning. It feels strange with the rotating camera’s movement… but it is kind of interesting effect.

Again THANK YOU for your time and effort.

great marcus, thanks :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
I’m currently working on my first turntable that’s very helpful for me.

Awesome!!! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I know this script is still in beta form but it appears to work very well, I would suggest moving this thread to the zscripts page because it is extremely helpful and I am sure a LOT of zbrush users would love to have this. I almost gave up looking for this update until I stumbled across this page…

Thanks guys.

Eric, I’ve posted it in this thread so hopefully it will be easier to find…

thx Marcus for the plugin. it works fine…and it’s very usefull!

…something doesn’t work though (or ami missing something?)…when putting the spin factor to zero and setting a start and end key…(trying to do a small travelling basically)… when recording the frames with brp set on… it’s stucked on the first frame and will record x time the first frame.
there is something weird though…when calculating i can see that the camera is turning around my model as i decided…and with bpr on!! so it seems that it does the job but not recordig it…too bad…
any idea?.. thanks

Thanks olimax1,

I have updated the plugin to correct the issue with BPR not working when Spin Cycles is zero. When installing version 02 make sure you first delete the TurntablePlus_4_01beta.zsc file from the ZStartup/ZPlugs folder.

Thanks to you Marcus!
…I gave it a try these evening…and everything is working fine
…your the one!!
thanks again for sharing your skills

Marcus, you are a godsend! Thank you so much for your efforts.
