Imagecube subtool blocking access to other subtool

I’m using an imagecube with reference textures loaded on to it. I was able to create my base shape using zspheres and I’ve created a base mesh and added it as a subtool. I still want to use the imagecube to complete my model, however my base mesh is inside the imagecube and I’m unable to do anything with my base mesh unless I hide my imagecube. But I still need to use the imagecube for reference. Can someone please tell me what I missed?

This appears to the the along the same lines as http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?168294-Move-Brushes-not-working-inside-Image-Plane-Cube&p=949164&viewfull=1#post949164. I can use some brushes to modify the base mesh, but not the move brush and a few other ones.

I don’t recall having this problem with ZBrush 3.5. I’m using ZBrush 4R4 on a Win7 system.

Please, don’t tell me about the grid plane way of doing things that was just introduced. I know about it and I’ve used it for a model, but I want to use the imagecube. I am also aware of the View plug-in, which was also recently introduced, but I do not want to use that for this project either.

Thanks for your help with this matter,

you are in 4R4 and now is 4R4 2P, probably you may want first to update…

Just curious as to why you can’t use the grid plane image?

It’s not that I can’t use the grid plane option or the view option I would like to get more familiar with the ‘tried and true’ methods that have been around for some time. Currently I play around in ZBrush as a hobby, but maybe someday it will be my profession. If that is ever the case then there is a chance that the production company will not be using the latest and greatest version of ZBrush and it may be lacking those features, but the tried and true options will still probably be there.

Aside from that many of the tutorials that I have come across don’t use the newest features yet.

I have updated to the latest and greatest and I still seem to have this problem. It appears as though some brushes work, for example all/most of the clay ones, but not the move or the standard brush and probably others.

Is this a bug in the program? If so how should I go about reporting it?

If this is not a bug in the program, then what am I doing wrong? Should I post the ZBrush tool in ZBrush format for others to try?

This forum is monitored for people reporting problems - there is no need to report elsewhere. I confirm that I can reproduce this and will pass it on to the development team.

Also, as every upgrade to ZBrush has been free to registered users, any production company you found still using an old version would be working unnecessarily behind the times.
