Image Plane transparency OSX

Hi, I’ve just created a imagePlaneX with texture and put a polySphere in it for modeling. OUCH! : when I turn transparency on, only the image pane itself becomes transparent, not the current tool - which is kind of pointless, isn’t it?

I’ve been noodling with this for half an hour and couldn’t find a workaround. Any help???

I’m on mac - using v3.2

Same issue here. Anyone have any suggestions, this is a weird, how does one sculpt with image references this way. Kinda beats the purpose of having image references if it is obscured by the mesh itself.

I’m having the exact same problem. I can’t figure it out. If it’s a bug, maybe someone can tell us.
Thanks

It’s a well-known issue but there’s no ways to work with a transparent ImagePlaneX “correctly” yet.

However, here’s an advice; Try create an L-Shaped ImagePlane and use it like bellow.

You’ll have a little bit of perspective problem with this “ImagePlaneL”, but I hope this will help you for now.

Thanks stuart,
It must be a OSX 3.2 bug cause I’m watching Ryan Kingsliens “Using Image Planes” tutorial and he seems to be able to do it without a problem (in 3.1)

You’re right, I had been able to do it without a problem in 3.1; now I’m using OSX 3.2 and having the same problem with yours.
I think it must be an OSX 3.2 Bug, too.

Right after 3.2 for OSX released, many people found this problem but it hasn’t been solved yet and there have been no announce about this.

Plus, a colorize brush problem that I’ve reported long time ago also hasn’t been solved yet, by the way.
This problem has been existing since I’m using OSX 3.1.
When I reported this problem to Pixo, I believed that it would be solved in 3.2, but I was wrong.

I’m not sure but I guess (and hope) these problems will be solved in OSX 3.5; no body knows when it’ll be released though…

Thanks again stuart,
I have a feeling Pixo is going to skip the 3.5 release for OSX and go straight to v.4. I love Zbrush and Pixologic but they seem to have really dropped the ball as far as OSX goes. It’s a shame.

Anytime.
I’m feeling the same way with yours these days.
I don’t like to be treated like this at all, but am still loving ZBrush.
I hope both Win and Mac users will get happy with brand-new ZBrush experiences very soon.
