Image plane approach? [Answered]

Hey There.
I’m back with more questions.
I can’t seem to align image planes with the image plane options under the texture menu.

I load in one image with a front and side view aligned in photoshop. Then I store the view as front, but then when I switch to the right view, both my image(this I can understand) and model disappears. so I load the rederence image as right view and then drag out my model again, but now I have no control over the size of it compared to the one stored as front =/

I’ve tried other approaches to image plane setups inside zbrush and though the floor grid under the “draw menu” looks great I can’t offset more than one unit and I’d need to move it up to my head wich is attached to it’s body. I guess I could move down the body and record it as a layer, then create a new layer to sculpt on, but is there not a better approach. Seems this might be my best bet though =O

Tried spotlight aswell, but had issues with it being in top of my model so I can hardly see my model and if I lowered the opacity in spotlight I can hardly see the image plane =(

Please help clear this mess out.
Thanks!

Have you tried using the Grids feature instead of Image Plane? You will find that there is more control with Grids.

See the ‘ZBrush4_R4_whats_new.pdf’, pages 81 to 92, in your Documentation folder for more information on Grids

If you want to use Image Plane, I did a tutorial for it a while back. You can find it here.

Thanks for the quick reply. However this has still the same effect. I have to orient my model to fit the view, but I’v figured out a trick.

After you’ve set up the imageplane, frame your model, export the image(the document) and open up in photoshop. align the reference image after your rendered image and redo the imageplane setup. Now just make sure you frame the model before you store your view. It’s a bit awkward, then you’ll get it exact in both views, perhaps it’s not so much an issue cause I just eyeballed it and it works fine

Thanks for the guide!

There’s also ZBrush window transparency. Are you using the Axis plug?

I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to zbrush so I’m not familiar with probably most of the features.
Haven’t heard of the axis plugin

Thanks alot!
As you are so villing to answer =)
Do you know if you can choose the material for a polygroup or inactivate it. I’d like it to be pure white so I can see through to the reference.

You can hide subtools. You can hide groups. You can use transparency for all inactive subtools.

Yes, but the wireframe for the object. When creating a polygroup Zbrush assign a random color. I’d like to change that wireframe color to white if it’s possible.

Thanks again!

See post #4 in this thread for where you can change wireframe and fill colors:

Super awesome, thanks!
