I'm still Zbrushe's lapdog

Something I still just can’t get my head around with zbrush is how to fix a mistake. Many times a undo can fix the problem but sometimes it’s not possible so what I always do is click ‘new document’ and redraw the last saved tool. So I’m often saving with every little change just to be safe. I still really feel that zbrush is controlling me and not the other way around, always afraid that I’ll do something that kills the ‘edit’ button forcing me to redraw the tool. Anyone have any insight into how they overcame this? Have any recent zbrush additions helped people overcome this?

You are worrying too much about losing Edit mode. Basically, any time you can reselect your model in the Tool palette, draw it on the canvas and then press Edit to sculpt. If there’s stuff ‘frozen’ on the canvas you can clear that by using Ctrl + N. Just be sure to save your model from the Tool palette, then you’ll be able to load it back in next ZBrush session.

If you’ve not seen them, you might find the video tutorials useful, particularly the ‘Getting Started’ ones:
