I'm so frustrated with Zbrush 4R7

Ever since purchasing Zbrush 4R7 I am encountering numerous issues,

The main one which I have posted about was to do with the files getting corrupt, and me getting an error when opening a ZPR saying ‘error loading tool, file loading has been aborted’. I have not got much faith in saving ZPR’s so I save obj’s of my subtle periodically so I don’t loose work. I’ve managed to loose a couple hours of work here and there, but nothing too bad.

Now the latest issue is that I am working on a model, I’ll use the undo function, and the model completely disappears from the window, I can see all of my subtools in the menu, but every tool i click on, cannot be seen in the main brush window. So I close out the file and open up again, and guess what, no subtools load at all. You can see in the image below, the file has been opened in brush, but with no subtool.

I’m getting so frustrated with this program, I just want to work un interrupted with minor to no glitches. Has anyone else experienced this, or has an idea how to resolve it.

I have erase and reinstalled my copy of zbrush, and now i’ve done a whole system erase and reinstall, and did not restore from a back up, incase the issue was software related.

I’m sorry, I experience nothing of what you describe on win 7 with the 64 bit version. I load .zprs all the time without issue. I’m not familiar enough with Mac OS to advise you on possible system related issues. You should create a support ticket and work with them to troubleshoot your installation, because obviously something isn’t right.

Thanks, it’s happened again, so I am going to raise a ticket now, i’m so annoyed. ugh

Out of curiosity, how large are the files you’re trying to load that are giving you this problem?

It’s happened to a few different files, the file in working in now is about 500mb, Is that the problem? Is 500mb too large.

No, I wouldn’t think so. I work with 500mb ZPRs all the time. This could vary by system, though.

Anecdotally though, I have noticed a number of users lately, many of which seem to be on Mac OS complaining that their zpr files are excessively large, and report having problems loading them. Usually this is the result of saving a project file with the Undo History. I was just curious if that might be your problem. It doesn’t appear to be your issue, though.

This is odd. I’m on Mac OS and haven’t experienced this at all.

This probably will have no effect but its worth a shot. Try a PRAM reset. Shut your computer down, hold command + option + P + R (all four together) and turn the machine on WHILE KEEPING THEM HELD IN. Hold them until you hear the machine chime two times. (It’ll chime, restart, chime again, then you can release).

Nothing will happen if you screw it up you’ll just have to do it again.

Of course, the good old Pram reset, i totally didn’t think of that, I’ll give that a try hopefully it works, Tats why it’s good to share issues on the forum, people think of things, I totally forget to try, thanks all.

I wuv u guys.
