I'm probably just an idiot...

Can’t seem to find the answer, but it’s probably because I don’t even know how to ask the question correctly. I’ll try my best, so forgive the obvious noob-ness.

In ZB3.5r3, I have a texture assigned to a subtool and have used UVPlanar mappaing (because the texture looks the best that way). Anyway, I also want to bake in a material (in this case, just the BasicMaterial). When I select “M” and fill the subtool, nothing happens. In other words, when I then change materials to a new selection, the subtools material changes. How can I make the material part of a subtool which has a texture as well?

<whew> Thanks for the help.

Turn off the texture in the Tools / Texture Map palette. Then with the new material do a New from Polypaint to create a new texture.

Thanks for the reply Richard, but that doesn’t quite do it. I did what you said, but then the original texture is basically replaced by the new one.

Here’s what I need: I have a subtool (which is a characters hat). I want a suede texture applied to it, and also the Basic Material applied to it as well, so that both are “baked” into the subtool.

Does that make more sense?
