Illustration in 2.5D

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to do two things that bridge from 3D to 2.5D.

  1. Is there a way to drop a ZTool from 3D (Edit Mode) onto a 2.5D layer and keep the 2.5D layer masked to that I cannot paint with the 2.5D brushes (RGB and Zadd/Zsub) anywhere except on the ZTool I dropped onto that layer? ie: I do not want my paint strokes to bleed outside of the Ztool on that 2.5D layer.

  2. Is there a way to distribute subtools to separate 2.5D layers without having to create a new 2.5D layer and realign each subtool on it’s own 2.5D layer?

Thank you in advance!!!

You could make a B&W mask, a grab of the canvas with your 3D tool white and the BG black, or the other way around, if you prefer. This you’d make an alpha and then make into a Fit Stretch stencil. Stencils mask off your 2.5D canvas just as you’d hope.

Cheers,

R
