Iliya the Mermaid - Collectible Figurine

iliya_mermaid_1

Hello! Long time lurker, first time posting. I worked on this collectible figurine earlier this year. I’m in the process of printing her now, and would love to share the progress as I go! For now, here are some renders using Blender Cycles.

Hello ZBrush friends!

I have posted an update to printing Iliya on my blog - so far, so good!

I learned a few tough lessons around checking your parts fit before hitting print, and so many things …

In fact, I’ve also put together a course on my process on Artstation if you are interested in how I go about doing this kind of thing:

(PS: this is my submission for an Artstation Challenge, and so I’m offering a coupon for 60% off until judging ends on the 17th! Coupon code CONTEST2020 )

Welcome back. A beautiful piece.

Happy Friday everyone! I made some great progress this week in printing & parts fit for Iliya.
This week also marks the first I am working full-time for my company, Feywood, leaving the Software Engineering world behind. :tada:

Full blog post can be found here (I also added it to the main post for easy access):

The biggest challenge I now face is printing with the intent to mold. :frowning: I was trying to avoid it, but I would like to make copies of her for others.

That meant I needed to rethink how her torso is split up, to make for easier molding. As it is, those arms would pose a huge challenge.

So using the “panel loops” technique, I split the torso up into three parts, and applied keys:

It turned out really good! I am also really digging this grey resin. It cures much harder than the white stuff it seems, and it’s much easier to see the details.

Next up, I am going to print the hair, and start test-molding the clear water part… **gulp … **
