hiya, im wondering how i might tweak my brush settings so that when i sculpt into a mesh it deforms directly along the Z axis as if being pulled out of the screen at the viewer. id like my brushes to deform the mesh with regard for mesh orientation alone, and no regard for the surface normals… some advice would be most appreciated, thankyou for your time.
transform>modifiers>z
Projection Master will also accomplish this with displacement painting, if “normalize” is switched off. This has the benefit of working against the screen plane, and not just with the parts of a model facing an x,y, or z axis.
In addition to using Projection Master, you could also adjust the Picker settings to use the screen orientation instead of continuously sampling the surface. This is how brushes like the ‘Trim Front’ brush function compared to regular trim brush.
