That bird… only 2 toes at the front side?

Yep - thats the correct amount for that bird.

D.

Strange, here they have a small toe more, kind of thumb.

Amazing work, Dan! My only crit is that some of the water seems a little thick. But still an outstanding piece!

Gary (aka voodoodad)

Hey Gary,

You’d be surprised just how thick rivulets of water can look when caught in a freeze frame.

BTW Enjoying your Damn Dirty Ape.

Dan.

Hi, the water interaction with the skin is great! Did you sculpt the droplets on the body?..if so could you share your workflow please?

Sure,

Simple extraction then smooth and inflate then smooth again and move in to surface to achieve desired height on the body.

D.

yep very nice,
but the water looks unrealistic, try to consider a couple of things:

  • the drops falling from above are moving, they really need motion blur
  • in general it looks more like gel (alien slime for example) than water. water doesn’t keep so much it’s shape, especially on skin
  • the skin should have more specularity, it doesn’t really look wet

my 2 cents

Awesome, love it! Any chance on a tutorial for your skin? I love how you do skin on all your models.

Dude, you are ****ingbaddass!

Absolutely stunning! Especially the anatomical detailing. A very tangible sense of mass and of soft flesh being squeezed and distorted. The wet hair plastered to her shoulder looks fantastic, too.

I would agree, though, with the comments others have made regarding the water. What I would point out is that those couple of droplets that are dripping from her chin are too long, suggesting a level of viscosity that water doesn’t have. The raindrops themselves are fine, I think, once you add some motion blur, as they have fallen from a great distance at a high velocity, as opposed to just rolling and dripping off her skin.

This is definitely top row material.

fantastic work, really digging this one! nice render and love the idea of your workflow with the water drops. will check that out :-):+1:
Keep it going buddy!
All the best and happy sculpting,

  • Kenny:)

Thanks for the comments guys.

As to the water - well choices are made at a lighting stage as to what reads the best for the frame.
It will all be much better tonight when i post again ,I myself believe it’s just lacking more detail in the bump of the water surface to sell it and of course More.
By More i mean the sort of attention only walking away a seeing it anew affords

The Devils in the details ( wanted to avoid Mo-Blur with this one done it before ala Pris rain effects, wanted to capture a frozen moment )

Back to the stylus

BTW crop of ref used

Cut back your specularity in the water only by about 20%, then re-render. The highlights are blowing out the subtle transparency that water has.

Deckard,
There is something disturbingly strong in most of the works in this thread.
some of the images have stuck with me in the few months since seeing them once, struck me more than any other images on this forum.
I hate to congratulate you on the dead girls, because while they do have an air of mysogyny, but I must because they also turn one of CGI’s weaknesses into a strength, in a provocative, conversation (and perhaps argument) starting way. CGI Realism almost always looks dead, no matter how awesomely done, and CGI Pinup Girls usually look dead but trying not to be, or they skew toward robots. These are like dead pinup girls, and their deadness seems utterly real because of this inherent problem with CGI. Some gallery could show the dead girls and replicants and they would probably be serious conversation starters. To be honest, the most common response would likely be, ‘how creepy and mysogynistic’, but, if thats not where you are coming from, you could find a way to frame them focusing on some story of a death. I don’t know. the replicants are perfect for the same reason. Strong work.
