i use zbrush since a while but i never dig in to much because always give me trouble in a clean modeling workflow, for now on i am maya user for modeling, and zbrush is the greater program for highpoly but the interface and the way that you reach every tool is a little complicated, for example now i am doing a hard surface modeling, and now i am tryng using alphas, i recently download a big library, then i want to import one of them in my alpha pallet, crap i cant see a thumbnail in my window viewport, but BINGO zbrush creat lightbox, then i dig into lightbox, but i discover that with one click the alpha image load in spotlight… well back up to google, well i discover by clicking shift+double click the alpha image load in alpha pallet or texture pallet, CRAP the alpha image load into smooth brush (shift brush) well back to google again to search what happen, i discover that you have to disable edit mode, nice i disable edit mode, then again shift+double click in alpha image with edit mode disabled, and lol the alpha image load in texture pallet, wow amazing took me about 30min to discover how to load a alpha from a library and its load in the texture pallet and not the alpha pallet… for that reason zbrush make the fast workflow highpoly modeling in not so fast…
the reason of this post is because i see many great modeling that have the aproach that i want to reach but i wonder how they use the interface to reach that kind of detail (for example for me is to much easy model some kind of things in maya more than zbrush) but i dont like to jump with an OBJ all the time, only when is really nesessary.
if someone cant post a great workflow or tutorial that explain easily how to interact with the workflow of zbrush it will be apreciated.
when i mean details, i mean clean details, because a person can model only with a few brush and can reach a clean asset, but i think that in some cases a good alpha can do fast and clean job more than traditional modeling.
