I really wish zbrush would get a real AO function.

What is the current ambient occlusion masking exactly? Sometimes it seems accurate, other times it seems like another trick being done with the depth map.

But aside from that, it’s not that useful unless it can interact with multiple subtools. I still have to export all my objects to softimage to bake down a real ambient occlusion map that interacts between all the surfaces.

I really hope zbrush can do that internally next release, it’s a real burden to have to export it all to softimage.

How do all of you deal with the creation of ambient occlusion maps for zbrush sculpts?

I know you can do a merge visible, but on meshes with 20 mill polygons, that seems to crash everytime.
