I have a laundry list of problems that need to be addressed

I wasted an entire night trying to fix these issues on my own. Hoping the forums will help.

Here is what I’ve been experiencing since last night:

Stuck rotation - I cannot draw or paint on my object except in projection master. When I scroll over my object all I get are the two red circles and my rotation curser.
Proj. master won’t add sculpting detail, only painted detail
Zbrush doesn’t seem to recognize that there are already UVs applied to this mesh. It was modeled and unwrapped in max, then exported to Zbrush for painting and sculpting normals. This was my old workflow last time I touched Zbrush in 2011 and I don’t know if something has changed or what, but I can’t get my polypaint to become a texture or anything.

Much thanks in advance.

Usually means that you have a texture applied on the subtool. Turn off the texture map by going to “Tool > Texture Map” and clicking Texture icon and selecting “Texture Off” from the fly-out.

Do you have Deformation selected in Projection Master settings?

Import your OBJ. then go to “Tool > Texture Map > Create” and click “New From UV Check” and post a screenshot of the result.

I think you’re facing a different problem, which can easily happen when using Projection Master.

There’s an error that happens in Zbrush when you draw a model onto the document at anything less than 100% RGB/Z Intensity. If the value is too low the model will begin to look transparent. At a value of 99 the model might actually look correct but you will still see identical symptoms: you wont be able to draw or paint on the model as clicking will only rotate the view. When this happens Projection Master will still work for painting (deformation wont be applied). I haven’t tried creating a texture when its in this state, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are errors there as well.

Cause:
Normally you’d have to go out of your way to do the simple steps required to create this problem. However, there is a glitch involving Projection Master and quick save (a newer feature that was likely introduced after 2011). If you’re using a 2.5d brush that has less than 100% z/rgb intensity and the quick save kicks in or you save the project, then it will sometimes use the brush values when Projection Master goes to pick the tool back up.

Solution:
Try exiting edit mode and clear the document. Make sure Z and RGB intensity is maxed to 100. Redraw the tool and enter edit mode.
