I couln't find the answer for this bump map problem.. please help!!!

Hello…
I am having this problem and couldn’t figure out the way to fix this… i have searched the forum but still no luck…
Could anyone tell me what i did wrong please

Thank you

I created a displacement map in zb… it work fine as a displacement map in Max. however, when i used it as bump map… it showed the bump lines between the uvs…
I have tried using both displacement map ( 16 bits) as well as colormap as bump map and both case showed bump gaps.
I have tried turn off and turn on the filter as well as adjusted the blur value but no luck…
I have no idea what should i do to fix this…I thought first the bump gaps are caused by the gaps in the texture between the uvs, but it worked fine in displacement as well as color map… it only show up when i used it as bump map…
here is the pics of that
thanks for your helps

The fact that the texture renders correctly as a displacement map in Max but not as a bump map indicates that the problem is NOT a ZBrush problem at all. It’s something to do with the settings in Max. There’s something that is causing Max to reverse the map’s values at adjoining UV regions. So where one region is using white for maximum bump, the regions next to it use black.

I’ve seen several other users with the same problem, but since I’m not a Max user I have no idea what setting there will correct this.

can’t remember for sure, but i think the problem is flipping the bump map in max by setting it to tile=-1. flip it in zbrush before exporting if that is what you are doing.

no… i flipped the uv ofcourse… but that is not the problem… thanks for your reply…

:frowning: still no luck… i guess i have to render without bump then…
