I can't mask certain areas.

I’m trying to work through the artist tutorial "projection Master Techniques by Sebastien Legrain. I’m on video 4 trying to make the arch. However, when I move the arch to lengthen it I can no longer get a good mask over the area. Any thoughts. Watching his video it looks like at first his video has a hicup here but the narrator does not say what he does, it just goes on. I’m sending to screen shots one how the mask looks and the other trying to draw the mask in. I have squiggled in that area of the stretched area with the same strength and randomness, however I still can’t get it to work. I’m working on a Mac with Zbrush 3.2 Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

you can’t mask in that area because there are no vertices you could actually mask. As you’ve stretched out that mesh there are literally no points left in that area that ZB could mask off. If you watch the video by sebastian again you will see that he explains how to get around that

Hope that helps.

Thanks for you comment. I have watched part 4 over and over again. There is nothing in there that says how to get around it. In fact he does indeed mask the arch. Later in another video he talks about taking the doorway mesh and changing the topology but in this part 4 he does mask the arch. As I said, I have watched it many times, but it does not mean I’m not missing something from video 4. But I don’t think so.
