I can only uniformly scale my insert meshes larger by dragging, how to scale down while inserting

When using an insert mesh , upon inserting it you can drag with mouse or pen and the insert mesh uniformly scales up.

How ever if I drag and make it a little to big and want to drag back the other way it does not uniformly scale back down, it only scales down in the x and y dimensions.

I read that holding shift while dragging is supposed to do this but that is not working. I know about holding Ctrl key will set the insert to the brush size, but that is not what I want.

So how can I insert a mesh, and as I insert it,scale it up or down uniformly, then when I have the size I want release my mouse button and insert at my desired scale.

Thanks

Hello @Zolly

This is the normal functioning of the IM brush to the best of my knowledge. It only scales uniformly on the way up. Once drawn, you can scale it uniformly as desired with Gizmo.

Use the Ctrl function for precise control over size when inserting.

The complete functions of the IM brush are explained in the documentation. Shift does not constrain scale–it constrains orientation.

Thanks Spyndel, I just wanted a dynamic visual uniform proportional up and down scaling as I am inserting, not to get a precise size but just to do it visually.

So its just a little slower you, as you say ,you have to finish the insert, and then use the gizmo to be able to drag and scale up or down .
