Uhhh, wow. This is one of the best images I’ve ever seen on here! The attention to detail like the paint on his “shield” is amazing, and not to mention how fantastic the environment is. Enjoy your inevitable top row and hopefully we get some making of pictures
My brother showed me your Baby Magneto image a week ago also, that one is just as inspiring.
Definietly top row. Could you post Skottie Young’s reference?
hah! Thanks guys for this awesome feedback! =D
And polaroid29, sure soon I’ll prepare some stuff about the process!

Sure dude! I’m a big fan of Skottie’s work, and it’s a fun process making a 3d version of it… I don’t like to make literal transitions, so I’ve made some changes to fit my style, hope you all like it! =D

Congrat, superb execution!

looks awesome. how did you do the grass? is it maya paint effects?
Amazing piece. I’m speechless about how awesome the story is.
I look forward to the details about the making of this wonderful piece.
Top Row… if you ask me…
How did you start this off? modeling in separate app? (3dsmax,maya,etc.) what method of texturing did you use? are these models rigged or posed in zbrush?
Love it…
later.
I’m really surprised none of your works have gotten in the Top Row yet. Everytime you come out with a new one, it becomes my desktops wallpaper. great job.
Excellent in every way vitorugo!
OMG - I Need to get good and fast! this is really inspirational stuff
Just BEAUTIFUL !
Hey guys! thank you for your awesome words! =D
killfrog58 Thanks man! The grass was the thing that I spent most of my time thinking how to solve without exploding my computer! haha!
Searching around the I’ve found 2 good solution for grass in 3ds max: a vray plugin called autograss (pretty fast, but too “carpet”) and using scatter distribution (awesome result, but ridiculous heavy)… so I’ve made a mix of both methods! ;D
I’ve made an noisy ground (see below on my viewport printscreen) to make the autograss less carpet, and tweaked it’s shader to achieve a more realistic looking, and with the multiscatter (and must have plugin for vray) I’ve distributed the other tipe of plants, to give a more natural look! ;D

selahpoetic hah! I hope that the moderators agree with you! thanks man!
For the models I’ve modeled then already posed in 3dsmax (see below the bizarres base models! hahah!) and detail then in zb! =) All the textures are made in Photoshop! For the kids faces I’ve made a base in zbrush and then detailed the texture in Photoshop!

Oh, and here’s a image with the before/after pic of the photo that I’ve used for backgroung, it was color corrected in Photoshop!

Really like this piece, good to see something different and fresh.
This is so wonderfull!!! I am in love with this image and the other one “Erik”.
Just gorgeous! five stars.
As a monster and creature artist it really IS fresh to see something like this I agree. Might attempt something like this in the future but with an evil tale.
