Huge Landscapes

Hi everyone!

I’m working on creating a snowy mountain landscape in zbrush and maya. I modelled the scene in maya almost in real size (200m x 150m) and exported it to zbrush. unfortunately I’m having some problems in zbrush (Noise is weird, the smallest brush size is not small enough, some dynamesh problems). Now I wanted to know what the right workflow is regarding huge landscapes in Zbrush. Am I missing something or should I just scale down the whole landscape bevor exporting to zbrush?

Thanks for your help!

You might want to break up your landscape into smaller chunks if you want to work with them in ZBrush, but even then, you will probably still have problems trying to work on a huge mountain. ZBrush is really meant for smaller things like characters, weapons, vehicles or other assets. Not really meant for large scale landscapes. Have you taken a look at Terragen or Vue for doing landscapes?

Thank you for your quick answer! Allright, I already thought it might be like this with zBrush. I read a lot about Vue lately so I think I’m gonna give it a shot. Thanks again!
