Hello all,
I’m still trying to export any 3d models i’ve done with zbrush to wings3d in low poly.
My problem is when i open my model with wings3d all the vertices are not weld, someone got this problem?
I precise the exportation seem to working well when the model is very easy (only some zspheres) but after i’ve got this problem of welding points…
are you exporting to DFX or Obj format ?
Hi there kryztof!
Did you read Pixolators post in your other thread. That works really fine! Did you tried that one?
Pat
i’m trying to export in obj format, pat
i saw what pixolator tell me but i told you that was working only for easy shape …
i give you this ztools and tell me what happen when you export it and open it with an other 3d editor and try to move vertice to see if there are all weld, but you can send me your obj after exportation of my ztools and i will see what happen…test.zip
No one got this problem of exportation before?
most users here , make their images completely in zbrush. Although there should be some who use a 3d package , they just don’t browse the forum that much than the others I think.
I skinned your ZTL and exported it as an OBJ with the Tool>Inventory>Grp turned off. As far as I can tell, it welded properly. Here is the model for you to test: Skin_test.zip
Let me know!

Hello Aurik,
I have try to edit Skin_test.obj and it doesn’t work, all the vertices seems to be well weld but they aren’t, just try to move
some vertices or faces with wings3d for example…
In fact i have this impression that all the faces are not connected themselve…
Maybe someone can help me?
I post you what i’ve done with the exportation you gave me aurik…
I have just tried to move to vertices and you will see that they aren’t weld
I do not have Wings3D, and it may be that there is a problem with the way that program reads the OBJ format as exported by ZBrush. There are a few programs that get tricky when importing and exporting OBJ files, and yours may be one of them. I did test the model myself in Cinema4D and did not encounter any difficulties such as you are experiencing. So it is clearly a problem with how Wings3D is dealing with the OBJ.
There is a possible solution that’s worth trying, and it’s free. Try out this version of your file: SkinTest2.zip If the problem is cleared up, let me know and I’ll tell you what I did. I don’t want to possibly muck things up more by giving a solution that proves to not work.
Thanks aurick for you help.
I don’t know what wrong with exportation and wings3d.
I just can tell you that sometimes it will perfectly export model and sometimes it will not work (all faces unweld together)
For simple zsphere exportation it will always work fine but for more complex zsphere it depand…
Aurick sent me a message about your problem. And to tell you the truth it took me a while to figure out the solution. The problem is in the hands of your zsphere. The two fingers that you created are not connecting cleanly to each other. As opposed to the head where every patch of hair is connecting cleanly. The solution is simply to make sure that everything connects cleanly. I took the liberty to fix your zsphere tool. I made it more complex by making 3 fingers instead of two. Export the mesh making sure that the Grp button is not selected and that Flp is selected. That should take care of it. Here is the ztool ( Cool tool by the way):
testrevised2.zip
Thanks very much Rafael
It seems that you find the solution of my problem so now i have to make a attention to my construction with zsphere :)))
It nice because with wings3d a can import my zsphere model and bring more precision to my model very easely :))))
