How to use one mesh as a blendshape of another one? (like in maya, just with layers in zBrush)

Hello,
I have different versions of a mesh (same topology) and I would like to get these all as blendshapes,
to have all these versions in one subtool and in order to blend between versions.
(just as you would do with blendshapes.

All I can find in documentation is about using layers, when I have changed a mesh.
But I don’t want to sculpt, I want to use different different blendshapes for one subtool, like it’s typical in Maya.

How can I achieve this?

Thanks

Hello @AlexxCentral

If I understand correctly, to do this you would use the 3d layer system. If it’s just high res surface detail that varies, and assuming the meshes all occupy the same size/worldspace, you would project the detail from your different meshes onto the target mesh while the layer is in recording mode. If the topology is the same but the pose is different, you would import the posed mesh, at the same level of subdivision, into the target subtool while the layer is in record mode.

Also be aware of the Blend Shapes plugin.

Thanks! Maybe the Import is what I am searching. How do I “import” inside from zBrush? (I know only, when I export before as OBJ and reimport) Can I mark one subtool and let it import into another subtool somehow?

Tool > Import, with the target subtool active and the layer in recording mode. You would first have to export the morph mesh as an obj at the same level of subdivision that the layer is created at.
