how to unwrap

Thank you for having a look at my post

I am trying to unfold my project in a manner that would allow me to use the sections to cut out parts and build a model from “in the real world”. I chose a simple to cylinder to illustrate my troubles.

Section A is the object.

B is what UV master created

Section C Was not generated by UV master but is more like what I had hoped for. Is there a way to make accurate flat sections that could be folded back into the original object?

Thank you everyone.

Cheers, CadUV master2.jpg

I think, you need to create Polygroups for the areas that you need on separate shells.

Then press teh “polygroups” button at the UVmaster.
You will get the shells.

In general you will not get easy a special exact UV layout in ZBrush, but you can prepare it in a way, that allows to easily realign them in another software (maya for example).

There are also some workflows, how to influence the UV shapes better, but I don’t know them in detail.
You can find them somewhere in the documentation.
(and if you found the description, leave a post here, where it was
