How to subdivide a sphere into just a few polygons? (a.k.a. its not working for me)

So just installed Z and getting to know this incredible tool…

Watching a few tutorial/basics videos and in this one, guy is able to turn a sphere into this boxy thing, decreasing the Resolution number in the Dynamesh … thingie…

its at around 1:22

Doesn’t work for as much as it did for him… it still looks pretty much like a sphere… Not sure what settings or whatnot might affect this…

Any suggestions are quite welcomed, as it seems like such an important thing to be able to do…

Cheers!

Hey khanate, It depends on the scale of your object for dynamesh, this case a sphere.
If you scale it down a lot you’ll see you can dynamesh it and the result will have drastically fewer polygons.
Can always scale it back up atferwards if you needed the original size for something specific, maybe make a duplicate first, and turn dynamesh off.

Cheers ~

You can also just append a polymesh 3d (the star), and under Initialize, choose qsphere and set the x, y, z to whatever you want.
