How to start to sculpt from one reference

Hey guys, i really want some tips about this. I found really good reference from character, creature or hard surface things, But the problem is, i only found for example one peace of reference. Most of them are from Cghub site.

How should i start sculpting in ZBrush for just one image, and i don’t have like orthographic view.

The only advice I can give my friend is use your imagination!

I have imagination, but i want to sculpt something i see. I will be character artist, and when i got a concept art to design that in 3D, how can i do that?

More imagination :stuck_out_tongue:

Start training your eyes / mental eyes so that you can begin to get a better feel for proportions and the like from as little reference as possible. You’re not always going to be given model sheets and plenty of reference images, so it’s just a matter of learning to work with less. I find it helps to keep moving the model around and looking at it from a distance, taking the time to question if it looks right to you or anyone else you might be able to ask.

Train my eye? mental eyes? Yea okay, soo how the hell i am suppose to do that?

The same way you train anything; practice practice practice.

Just start drawing and sculpting and taking the time to actually look at your result and question if things look right. You may not have an exact blueprint to follow if you’re only given a few concept images, but you can still look at the model and compare parts of it to the rest (how big the head looks next to the shoulders, for example). Post it for others to see and listen to their critiques.
