How to scale background image?

Hello there, I’m very new to ZBrush, I only started learning it a couple of weeks ago. I’ve created a quick model of an anime penguin and I added a background image to it via Light>Texture but the background image is huge so is there a way to scale it please? Or would I have to resize it in Photoshop first then open it in ZBrush? I’ve been trying to find this out for ages but I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere, so I’d be extremely grateful if anyone could help me.

Thank you very much for you time and help.

The Light > background works best for using wrap around panoramic images for BPR rendering and lighting. If the image is a panorama of sufficient resolution, you’ll be able to rotate the character 360 degrees in it.

For your purposes, you may want to explore Image Plane. The link below explains how to use it to set up a single image for the BPR render.

The Light > Texture usually use HDRI images. As Syndel mentioned, these are 360 degree wraparound textures that ZBrush will read light information from, giving you lighting that will reflect that enviroment. Here is one site for free HDRI, and here is another.

You can then use the Longitude, Latitude and Tilt sliders in the Light > Background pallette to choose the view you prefer.

Here is a bit more information about it.

Thank you so much for your help both of you, I really appreciate it. If I set up an image plane, how do I bring my model to the front please? Even if I set the plane to the Back view, it still goes over my model?

Please see the bottom section of the second link, “Using a Single Image”.

It is also a simple matter to render out your object and composite it as you wish against a background in an image editor like photoshop, using the render pass channels and alpha.
