How to retop my cat?

sir_retop.jpg

I have a problem with that point in the forehead, where all the lines meet. Can I make a better topology for that area?
Because when I go up in sd levels it looks even worse.

Very new to this whole retop-business…

How would you go about solving this?

The short answer is (but this will leave you with more questions guaranteed as it’s not very intuative)

  1. Select the zsphere tool.
  2. Go to rigging menu and select mesh. Select the cat head.
  3. Go to topology menu and click Edit Topology.
  4. Create new topology.
  5. When done, preview using A key to preview adaptive skin, adjust settings of adaptive skin if needed.
  6. Create skin, then if needed append it to your original tool and project the detail from one mesh to the other.

There are plenty of tutorials and information on this very forum as well as youtube and all over the internet. Just search for zbrush zsphere retopology as the entire process is tricky until you get used to it and too long to really get into depth in a post like this.

Thanks <3
but I already know all that, and have tried to understand just HOW to change the topology to make it “right”.
I don’t even know what new shape my topo should be, is it not supposed to meet in the middle? Or is it supposed to meet, only with fewer lines?

I’ll start by looking for more tutorials, like you suggested, haven’t really found one that solves this problem though.

This is not my work… but there are many handy tutorial about retopologizing in zbrush, at youtube…
